Don’t see why this is getting downvoted.

It’s a solid article about a crypto-scheme. The goons who run the scheme are affiliated with Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI.

Exactly. I’m not interested in Altman’s iris-scanning coin, but the article itself is pretty decent.

Lemmy has many anti-crypto ideologues who think that “crypto” is a “scam” across the board.

So, when an actual flagrant scam is exposed, they don’t want to talk about it because it shows how other cryptos aren’t actually a scam (although maybe a bad “investment”). It’s impossible to maintain ideological purity while recognizing any nuance.

Sorry, you’re pitching this to the wrong person.

I am one of those people that think that there only two use cases for crypto:

        1. Financial speculation
        2. Criminal activities; fraud, sanctions busting, international crime gang operationa

I disagree with the way you use the term ideologue. It is reasonable to view crypto as being defined solely by the two abovementioned use cases.

This is not a purely ideological viewpoint.
