This is probably the best possible alternative for Daft Punk they could get. It’s still not good enough but I respect they at least tried. I would imagine Daft Punk is taking their retirement seriously.
Trent and Atticus Ross have been doing lots of great soundtracks for shows and movies. I feel they are just using the NIN name for impact, but ultimately it’ll still be those two doing the soundtrack.
Shogun was excellent, and that was just Ross by himself.
I’m ok with this, though Aphex Twin would have been better.
Oh, that’s a good one.
So it’s going to be a dark and gritty reboot?
it’s gonna have a Big Man With a Gun
If its going to have a theme of war, I think NiN will be alright despite Trent’s track record with movie scores. It needs something grittier than Legacy had. I’m not expecting much storywise. Legacy was meh, and I dont expect anyone to be able to match that strange digital sort of medieval feel of the first one. The Grid was just at its peak in Tron.
Legacy was meh
You take that back. It was the best Daft Punk music video in years.
I’m not expecting much storywise
The music was great, and the actors weren’t even that bad. The story was just whack and what they did to Tron wasn’t okay.

Suddenly I’m interested.
I think this’ll be good. Pixar’s Soul had an incredible electronic soundtrack
Really should have brought back daft punk, they were the only shining light in legacy. Trent Reznor is an amazing musician, can’t pull any movie he has composed for. But daft punk elevated legacy to another level, just with their music and the soundtrack is probably one of their best albums.
They retired, though
I know, hence the “bring back”. There are people that have come out of retirement for certain projects, and from what I remember, legacy was a positive experience for them. Just pipe dreaming. All the best to NiN
ITT: People who are not familiar with how much movie soundtrack work Trent Reznor & Atticus Ross have done together.
Fitting. Both blasts from the past.
So this is what ends Trent Reznor’s career.
