Hi everyone
My partner and I are off to the USA in a few weeks, and I was just wondering what AF drinks you’d recommend, please? I’ve heard good things about Athletic Brewing.
Thank you
Water is great. Most places you will only find filters municipal water. When I do not have access to the well water from my dad’s house, I drink liquid death.
Lots of fizzy flavored waters are available too. I drink bubly and waterloo. Some flavors are better than others. Waterloo’s cherry lime is probably my favorite.
There’s so many brands and types of NA sparkling drinks out there. Those brands are great ones (love a Black Cherry Waterloo), but I’d also recommend things like Spindrift, which is sparkling water with a little bit of fruit juice.
If you aren’t from America, your best bet is to go to the grocery store and walk around the aisles with soda or juice. You’ll find a ton of interesting drinks there. Most alcohol will be in a different (and clearly marked) part of the store.
Root beer
Ginger beer/soda
Cheerwine
Many places also have very regional sodas.
If you are ever around PA make sure you try a local birch beer. So much better than a root beer.
And cheerwine is amazing too.
Cheerwine is awesome.
I’m a Moxie fan too.
Love those regional sodas.
I have not tried it myself but hear Lagunitas hop water is good.
My wife has stopped drinking alcoholic drinks and has gone entirely NA (or at least a close to NA as you can get). More stores are supplying NA options. Not just beer, but wine and spirits, too. The spirits seem to be just heavily spiced water. Burns all the way down, though.
I myself don’t drink, so I can’t speak to how these taste at all. You mentioned Athletic. That’s one my wife gets often. The Blonde is a favorite of hers. She just recently tried an Octoberfest version and liked that. She recently got Blue Moon NA and liked that, especially with the orange slice. If you like seltzers, NA White Claws are a 100% alcohol free options that they spruce up with vitamins and minerals according to the packaging.
We tend to get most of our drinks from a store chain called Total Wine. They do have more NA options than other stores I’ve been to. If I go and get my wife something, I can usually find something she hasn’t had but also one of her staples.
Kin is fairly popular and available. You can even get it at liquor stores.
I’ve settled on Heineken 0.0 as my go-to N/A light beer alternative. You’re usually able to find it in most stores and if a restaurant has N/A beer options, it’s generally on the list.
Near beer is like drinking denial.
Look at the community and think about what you write. Try a little common sense.
I know what community this is, NA mock alcoholic beverages have proven to be a gateway to relapse for many, that’s just a fact (if not common sense).
Thanks for the lecturing response though, hope it provided the dopamine hit you were looking for.
Then maybe you could lend your vast experience to others and say that instead of something that’s constantly repeated to non drinkers as a form of peer pressure.
More context in your op may have been helpful to convey your full meaning and intent.
I appreciate your concern, but I haven’t experienced them being a gateway to relapse for me.
