There should be one person, ONE, whose whole life is checking/testing seals on thrusters. He’s like a monk, no wife or children, his whole life is the freakin’ seals. After 10 years of dedication, hand him a lavish pension, buy him a fine farm and release him from his vows.
That wouldn’t work.
Boeing knew there was a leak, said it wasn’t too bad and launched anyway. Then they reconsidered. The great O-Ring Monk wouldn’t have fixed this.
Don’t take my dreams! We need religious orders of monk engineers, like in “A Canticle for Leibowitz”.
