    It’s a shot gun approach … they blast you at medium range with buckshot … most of the little pellets will miss but a few will hit you where it hurts. Then they just keep blasting you like that over and over again until you bleed to death

      But then why all the elaborate, intrusive and likely expensive (for the corp) user profiling? If the most effective advertising is just blasting random mildly related suggestions at the consumer that seems a huge waste of money.

        They used to fire the shot gun randomly all over the place.

        Now they fire it more in our general direction.

        And they keep walking closer and closer to us with every shot.

        Shotgun approach gets some bites and is cheap per ad. Targeted approach is more expensive to do and for advertisers tonsay for. However, its more effective. If they could all be targeted well, they wouls
