Forensic psych is exclusively people w charges or convictions, and a lifetime in the system results in people extremely good at navigating it. It’ll take the forensic psychiatrist a week or two to justify sending them back, so they’ll get a short period of slightly more comfortable accommodations. Real psychosis and suicidal ideation and behavior can occur in prison, so it takes a second to sus out the real episodes from the malingerers, especially since the real episodes often go ignored long enough for the malingerers to get a good look at what to imitate.
