The victim returned home to find her house broken into and a note left saying "be happy, eat up".

A woman discovered her house had been broken into by a burglar who hung out her washing, put her shopping away and cooked a meal on her stove.

    The court also heard the bird feeders had been refilled and plant pots had been moved.

    Inside the house, a pair of shoes had been removed from packaging, which was placed in the recycling bin.

    Prosecutor Alice Sykes said a meal had been cooked using items from the woman’s cupboard.

    Shopping had been taken from a bag and placed in the fridge, which had been rearranged.

    Kitchen utensils had been placed in the bin, and new ones from the shopping bag had been laid out.

    And toothbrush heads had been replaced on toothbrushes, an empty bottle of wine had been placed in a rack having been drunk, and the floor had been cleaned with a mop and bucket left out.

    The victim also saw a bottle of red wine had been left out next to a glass and bottle opener, and there was a bowl of sweets on the living room table.

    Well damn, can he do my place when he gets out?

    So other than a bottle of wine what did he burgle? 22 months is a bit harsh for a bottle of wine and doing chores.

      I agree. What he did was wrong and I can empathize why the victims would feel violated and terrified.

      But also yes, what he did was clearly not malicious. Two years is HARSH. Dude needs help, not a beat down.

      I see where the U.S. gets its criminal punishment tendencies from. We learned from Papa U.K. Except, there is a nonzero chance he would have been shot over here, (or killed by the cops, wait nevermind, he’s not black) so at least he’s got that going for him over there.

      According to the rest of the article, he was caught at a different house, belonging to a man, where he washed his own clothes, used the Jacuzzi and left it dirty, and was drunk on the man’s wine when he was arrested. Did he just not have time to clean up after himself, or was it a sex-related difference in M.O.?

        Yes she has all right to be scared but still harsh. How can I get him to my house? I have so many dishes and bottles of wine I don’t drink so he’s welcome to come over. Can we work on getting him out on work release?

    It sounds like he was homeless, and felt guilty about what he was doing. So in his mind, he tried to do things that he hoped would make up for the wrongs he was committing.

    At least, that’s the impression you get from reading the article.
