Once you’ve dropped the “we’re all gonna die” card, nothing else can matter more. So if you can make arguing about which thing will kill us more or faster a vehicle for gaining control over the masses because there’s no argument against it other than “nuh-uh!” Tbh I doubt it even really matters to the dems that they happen to be right on this one as long as it keeps them in power. In fact if this stopped being an issue they might actually lose power; that’s why they’ve let it get this out of control in the first place.
