    I have the curved ultrawide monitor and it’s not something I’d recommend anyone buy.

    The problems are numerous;

    • The software is more Smart TV than monitor. There’s a bunch of connectivity I don’t want. (BT, WiFi, etc).
    • Trying to manually select my PC from all the ‘channels’ is a 3-4 button press affair. For something that I do almost every work day when it should be automatic, it’s quite frustrating. It does auto-switch to Thunderbolt for my work laptop easily, though. But I can’t leave the laptop plugged in or it will switch to it from my PC whenever the laptop wakes up.
    • We have a Samsung TV in the living room and at least once a week, my partner turns off the TV and my monitor at the same time.
    • There are a lot of issues with the monitor going to sleep and not waking up properly (The internet is packed with complaints). You have to restart your PC to get it to wake.
    • You can’t just mute the monitor. There will be a constant on-screen indicator that the monitor is muted. So you leave the volume at 1.

    Hardware-wise things aren’t all rosey either.

    • The ports on the monitor are micro-HDMI and DP, so new cables for you.
    • The subpixel layout (on this monitor at least) leads to blurry text with coloured halos.

    Glad my job paid for this, not me.

      Yes, thank you for sharing that. I will not be buying a Samsung “smart” device ever, full stop. They’re salivating thinking about taking screenshots of everything you do and putting ad overlays over your screen saver.

      You are lucky that your employer paid for your monitor. The input switching issues do sound extremely annoying though. This is something you want to work without any issues or any actions.
