It was East Coast Throwdown weekend, so I was playing a ton of Skullgirls, Street Fighter 6, and Guilty Gear Strive, as well as unwinding at the hotel room with some Marvel vs Capcom collection and Vampire Savior in the other Capcom collection. I expected to do better in all three games that I entered than I did, but I really do think the level of competition was just that high. It was nice to see iControl take Skullgirls, over Dekillsage, no less.

Other than that, it’s been Divinity: Original Sin II still. I’m at that part of that game that happens in both Divinity: Original Sin games where you’re just pigeon-holed into what combat challenges you can actually overcome at your current level, so I’m prodding at the edges until I come across a quest or combat encounter that’s level-appropriate. These are the benefits of Baldur’s Gate 3 having half as many levels, so there’s approximately twice as much content you can opt to do at any given time.

I’m playing Alan Wake II, and oh boy is it a great game. I’m not normally a horror fan, and have really only dabbled my way through a few residents evil, but I’m really enjoying myself in AW2. I love the off-kilter humor that remedy has, and their confidence to include it inbetween the horror, knowing it won’t undercut the scares. I’m also pretty intrigued by the mystery of it. My memories of AW1 are hazy, but there are a ton of nods to Control, which I also really liked.

I usually have a pretty bad attention span with games so it’s wild to me that I’ve been playing warframe almost exclusively for nearly 3 months now, and I’m super excited for 1999 later this year.

I also really need to get back into the satisfactory server I’ve been hosting for some friends and finish the turbofuel power plant for them.

Finally, Monomyth came out in early access recently so I’ve been savoring it. Arx Fatalis had the absolute coolest fantasy setting I have ever seen, as well as just being an awesome game. Monomyth is a love letter and I couldn’t be happier.

Satisfactory pretty obsessively. I’ve been working on some content creation with my partner for dawn of defiance… and looking forward to the factorio: space age release.

I’ve been playing a ton of Borderlands because the whole series is on sale on steam. Got the Pandora’s Box collection for like $50 and it comes with all the main games with all DLCs, plus both Tales games. Plus I bought Wonderlands for like $12 cause it’s also on sale right now.

I’ve been having an absolute blast. I finished the first one the other night and immediately jumped into Wonderlands last night. Wonderlands is fun as hell, honestly; it makes me want another game in this Wonderlands series because the Borderlands formula fits so well for a fantasy looter-shooter/RPG.

It’s Steam Next Fest rn, so I’m trying my hand at a bunch of demos. The ones that caught my attention so far were the demos for SAND and Sulfur. Sand was surprisingly fun despite the absolute god-awful performance. And Sulfur is just uniquely charming.

I’ve been playing Metaphor. Huge Atlus fanboy so I’m biased but I’ve loved this game. Think I’m nearly done, got all companions and over half of them are maxed out. They’ve done a bunch of reveals (which were very telegraphed especially if you’ve played some of the SMT games). Got one final dungeon to do from what I can tell but at the start of the cycle.

Combat is much better than Persona due to using press-turn. I’ve found the S-Links are much more streamlined than in P5 as well, with the stat requirements to progress some of them being reasonable with regards to where you are in the game. I think the time passing mechanic is the best it’s been since P3 tbh.

If I had to nitpick: The soundtrack is fine but not as good as most other Atlus games. Also enemy variety could be better especially if you are doing all the side dungeons.

Overall I think this game is excellent though.
