    I mean large apes are mostly vegetarians aren’t they?..

    …and our larger brains are often attributed as having been caused by higher protein diets …

      Animal protein is simply a very dense source of nutrients. Plants are great, but they are chock full of fiber, and fiber makes you full. Humans also can’t extract plant nutrients as efficiently as other animals.That’s why omnivore apes and herbivores spend a lot of TIME eating.

      With more nutrient dense meals, that time can be allocated elsewhere.
