I am looking for a new phone. Coming from the Sony midrangers, because they have a headphone jack. I love the FP philosophy. I don’t see their devices having headphone jacks, though. Is there any talk of that being introduced?

Well, that’s sad. Guess I’ll stay with Sony for now.

Strange that the jack was removed in a phone that claims to support sustainability.

If you’re happy with this solution, great. Good for you. It’s just not for me, while I have a choice, because I find it clunky to have to walk around with an adapter all the time, especially one that keeps dangling a spare port around.

Why do you say that hardly anyone uses headphone jacks anymore? The fact that most mobile phone manufacturers have removed them (for unsavoury reasons) is, of course, forcing people in that direction. Whether they want to or not is a different question. I assume you mean that hardly anyone wants to use them. Any solid basis for that statement?

Personally, I love wired headphones because they’re cheaper, often sound better, have no delays, are actually more durable and environmentally friendly, don’t need charging, allow me to quickly switch between devices and “just work”. That’s just me, of course.

Here an article showing some pros of the current trend, but also the drawbacks.

The fact that people still defend removal of headphone jacks just goes to show how brainwashed they are.

I hope so. Not really sustainable using ear buds that will fail. I won’t buy a 5 without it.
