I think most people can agree that Jesus was a cool dude, but the folks co-opting his message to various ends are less cool. Love me some Jesus, loathe me some church/mosque
Yeah, Jesus seems pretty based. I like the part where the wrecks the temple (or rather, the predatory merchants in the temple). That was pretty metal.
for real, unfortunately people didn’t really listen to that message and now predatory merchants basically control the faith.
People seem to forget the ‘if you do not hate your father and mother, yes, even yourself, you cannot be a true follower of me’ and ‘someone who lusts after someone else is equivalent to having committed adultery’ verses. Just because he said some pretty things doesn’t make it all great.
Idolizing any other person of any era is silly, but sifting out the good from the bad and passing it forward should be heartening. Seeing society progress and finding its prototypes deeply flawed is just progress on display
