Do people mix VoxeLibre with other mods? Or any other game, for that matter. I know VoxeLibre also is a collection of mods, but I’ve been afraid of mixing it with other mods, since I’ve seen errors popup, and I haven’t really tried that many at a time.
I was trying to do a generally vanilla Minecraft like experience and only had VoxeLibre, and two mods, Goblins and Auroras, and the hostile mobs would not start to burn when they day came. Later, in another situation, I logged in at night and, after hanging in my miniscule shelter for ages, I realized the sun was not coming up. I relogged and suddently it was day, but again the mobs outside would not burst in flames. Flames woukd appear on them dor hald a second and then disappear. After jumping around then for minutes waitinf for them to die, I died myself
Now I’m left wondering what was the cause, if a bug in Voxelibre itself or maybe one of the other mods interfering with it. So, right now, I’m afraid of adding any mod inti the mix. Will start a new world only running the game and see how it works out
I also tried running only the game with Animalia mod and one every 8 new worlds I’d get errors pop up imediatly upon world creation. After playing a bit and realizing I would have duplicate items for all animak products, I also gave up on it
Here are two mods that I just love for a challenge:
These mods are great for new worlds, where you want to challenge yourself to survive in harsh conditions. In particular, HarderVoxels is unforgiving, being similar to Minecraft’s “hardcore mode” - more damage from hostiles, and permadeath.
Safe to use mods for VoxeLibre are usually the recently updated ones listed on ContentDB with our game marked as being compatible with. I recommend the ones most recently updated because they can become incompatible in time, sometimes because our games just has to do some incompatible changes, and sometimes because the engine itself introduces significant incompatibilities a few versions later.
A great mod for aesthetics is VoxeLibre Furniture and decorations, created specifically for our game by one of our contributors - who also made HarderVoxels. If you click his name on ContentDB you’ll find more mods that work with our game. He does a great job at improving his mods and keeping them compatible with the latest Luanti and VoxeLibre, so those mods are great to use.
Another great mod is Dwarf Fortress style caverns, whose developer made an effort to make it compatible with our game.
And a shameless plug, my simple mod Wet Mud, which gives you a way to hydrate farmland without leaking water. :)
