It’s called a dog pile for a reason.
Buddy was all, “Hold on, is something happening? Are we sure this is real? I don’t want to run that way just because everyone else is running that way,” and then gets all surprised when he has five wolves dragging him away to tear him to pieces.
I think he was trying to help his buddy.
