These are the most profitable and successful (and some say innovative) companies ever.

They can figure it out. It’s a will problem.

increased energy usage should come as no surprise regardless of the usage. It’s the zero emission promises that were out of reach from their inception. everyone wants to do the bare minimum (if that) and it isn’t good enough.

Nah man. Everyone criticizing their decisions are just racist, homophobic, bigots. Now be a good little peasant and go fight the other peasants while daddy Marduk rapes Tiamat for fun and profit.

I don’t know why we’re blaming AI when it’s power generation not transitioning fast enough that’s the problem…

If wind, solar, nuclear was widely available this would be a non issue.

Energy conservation has been part of that messaging. Running appliances and low peak times etc. All of that is out the window for AI.

Energy conservation is the dumbest thing we have ever talked about. For prosperity and well being, electricity should be cheap and plentiful. It’s pollution and greenhouse gases that need to be curtailed. Another mixed up policy mess of messaging, and it is being unravelled by AI.

Clean electricity should be so cheap that every other option isnt feasible. Instead, it’s talk conservation, reducing wealth and quality of life.

No mention of a few corpos going for nuclear as a power source for said datacenters?

Of course not. People want to be angry at AI, nuance would interfere with the dopamine hit.

Or maybe a few of them doing the right thing doesn’t outweigh the harm that the rest are doing.

It doesn’t matter how much work I’m doing to patch up holes in a sinking boat if 12 other people are actively drilling holes in the boat.

They must have learned that from the banks. Same playbook, all platitudes designed to not even take effect until the current leadership has bailed on the company with massive golden parachutes.
