Rollover says I just want to scroll videos. I would suggest loops but im have not used it and am not sure if it ever got to the point where it is federated.

I really want to try Loops but I’ve never been able to successfully create an account.

Enter the username, email, password, validate your humanity, and then get a message to check my email for new instructions. The email never comes so I’m stuck. Can’t log in, can’t use the “forgot my password” function.

I was in the same situation, but eventually (like 3 days later?) the email did come. Idk if they’re manually processing it or what but it can be damn slow it seems.

I’m in the Discord for Loops, but not affiliated with it. The dev said they’re rate-limited by their email provider, so it does take a long time to go through the queue. The queue is also split between Pixelfed and Loops, since they have the same developer, so that slows things down even more.

It took about three days to get my invite as well, but it may be a bit faster now since I think the initial surge of signups has tapered off a bit.

I have a Loops account; both of the videos there are pretty meh.

Seriously though, there is a giant lack of content there, I’ve gotten the feed to loop (heh) after about 30 minutes. Great, because it stops the doom scrolling, but doom scrolling is the entire purpose of the app…

Yeah I kind of expect that. I had messed around with Lemmy before, but I fully moved here when the RedditAPI drama happened and ended 3rd party apps. Lemmy has improved over time, but it’s still nowhere near the amount of content Reddit used to provide.

Same thing with Pixelfed vs Instagram/TikTok.

The only solution is to keep using it. Maybe try my own hand at making content on occasion.

honestly most social media like reddit had to much content in general but it is unfortunate that niche groups like fans of particular games or authors are not present. you sorta need everyone in the fandom or at least a good chunk to get it working.
