There was a time that a president issuing pardons to people who immediately reoffended would have paid a political price for it. That is not the current situation.

    Rioter

Why do all the headlines keep misspelling “insurrectionist traitor?”

You mean political prisoner? Hostage? Any term you want that’s not an offensive pronoun?

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) told reporters that it was simply not his job to second guess the president. “The president’s made his decision, and I don’t second guess those,”

It’s literally your fucking job as part of the legislative branch. The next 4 years are going to be so fun/s

Also what idiots, even with a pardon you’re still a convicted felon and a convicted felon can’t possess guns, which btw is what this guy got arrested for. Convicted felon in possession of a firearm.

I guess he doesn’t know what the purpose of congress is.

The thing about possestion of fireams is not true, by the way. Unless specified explicitly as part of the pardoning, you get all of your civil rights back. All means all.

In fact, a presidential pardon is currently the only way to have your firearm rights restored if you have been convicted of a federal felony.

      https://www.justice.gov/pardon/frequently-asked-questions

Edit: although to be clear this applies to federal convictions only. Even Trump can’t pardon state convictions which I presume the guy in question had, which would also bar him. He would need to get those convictions pardoned or overturned in whatever state they happened in.

Jan. 6 was nowhere near Ball’s first brush with law enforcement. Three previous felony convictions — including for domestic-violence battery by strangulation, resisting law enforcement with violence, and battery against a law-enforcement officer — are listed in the charging documents.

Piece of shit was already a piece of shit before J6.

I have no idea if this is the case, but if he was a felon for any other reason at the federal level the pardon wouldn’t have cleared that either if it was for Jan 6

Ball was accused of “throwing an explosive device that detonated upon at least 25 officers” into the Capitol’s Lower West Terrace tunnel, injuring law-enforcement personnel. On Tuesday, Ball’s case was dismissed following President Trump’s blanket pardon to more than 1,500 defendants charged with offenses related to the attempted insurrection. … Axios reported the following morning that — according to a close adviser — Trump didn’t care much to scrutinize whom exactly he was pardoning. “Trump just said: ‘F–k it: Release ’em all,'” an adviser told the outlet.

Be perfectly clear on this: These offenders have been pardoned by the person for whom they committed the acts of violence which resulted in their being arrested, charged, and/or convicted. These pardons are for one reason: to encourage and enable more violence on behalf of the same person.

According to Fox News and their viewers Trump did not incite an insurrection. He told them to be peaceful and they attacked the Capitol. So he pardoned them for… Reasons?

I think the press should do full profiles of all these heroes. I would love to learn more about the backgrounds of these brave patriots.

It’d be neat if someone made a list of them all, sortable by state of residence. They’re national heroes; they should be found and thanked for their courageous acts of patriotism.

I’m half convinced GTA6 can’t release because they keep having to add new content to mock rapidly developing current events.

In Seminole it means "“the place where wild peppers grow”, or "“river of fishes” or “pepper ridge” according to “internet sources”. And also the name of the adjacent river.

For those curious, he was caught due to prior felony convictions, not due to Jan. 6
