Colorado gun stores say they may be forced to shutter should Democrats in the legislature this year pass a ban on the manufacture, sale and purchase of semiautomatic firearms with detachable ammunition magazines.
Senate Bill 3 would make a large portion of the merchandise at Colorado gun stores illegal to sell overnight, hitting their bottom lines but also presenting safety and liability issues.
I’ve got a great idea. Any time a law is thrown out by a federal court, the lawmaker(s) that wrote the law should be immediately removed from office, and permanently barred from every holding any elected or appointed office ever again–even if later SCOTUS rulings overturned the prior rulings–and also permanently barred from working in any position that advises or lobbies gov’t.
Maybe that would stop assclowns from trying to pass laws that are blatantly unconstitutional.
Performative bullshit that the Democrats know damned well won’t get past the courts.
Trump has us on a speed-run towards totalitarianism.
Lemmy: HA! HA! Give up your guns.
No, thank you. Just put a sign on your door saying you want first-class seating when the trains start rolling.
Oh look! Blacks, women and LGBT folks have been the largest gun buying demographic for a few years now. You suburban white boys didn’t get the memo?

threaten us with a good time
Oh no, well anyway.
Not that I think that’s altogether a bad thing… but are they doing anything to curb the underlying issues, or just banning scary gun-machines and hoping something good comes of it?
If anything trumps first days in office should convince everyone to loosen gun laws.
Those kinds of guns are the bread and butter of gun stores. Gun fetishists buy those guns all the time. No sales means gun stores close.
Gun fetishists buy those guns all the time.
Like women, blacks and LGBT folks? That’s who you’re talking about, right?
those guns
semiautomatic firearms with detachable ammunition magazines
In other words, damn near every gun on the market?
If you read the article you would know that the law only applies to rifles and shotguns. I would expect that it calls out specific “handguns” like short barreled ar-15s
Short barreled ar-15s are already an NFA item.
You can but it as a pistol of it doesn’t have a stock on it.
Yes, and of course legal sales are the only way people get guns. Of course.
IMO: Good.
