More rugged, and compact, but still great for hooking up to a TV or headset.

    You can download steamOS and put it on any hardware you want (assuming it’s supported by Linux)… I wouldn’t hold your breath for an upgradable machine in that form factor, but if you can live with something a little bigger you could build a minipc with steamOS.

      If I recall correctly that’s the old version of steam OS. The new one runs on modified Arch (maybe?) and hasn’t been released for general use yet, otherwise I think you’d have seen other handheld using it already.

        You’re right, that’s my bad. Looks like there’s an unofficial port that you can use on custom hardware, but nothing from valve yet.

          Yeah, I’m really interested if we’ll ever get a public release. I don’t know enough about their customization to create SteamOS, but assume driver support could be a big problem.
