Over a million of Igloo brand rolling coolers have been recalled in North America after customers reported injuries including fingertip amputations, bone fractures, and lacerations from using the product.

The coolers, which cost between $80 (£63) to $140, were sold on Amazon and on Igloo’s site as well as at Costco and Target from January 2019 to 2025, according to the US Consumer Product Safety Commission.

The tow handle can pinch people’s fingertips against the cooler, causing amputation and other crushing hazards, the agency said.

The good thing is, your cooler is likely full of ice, when it severs your appendages. At that point, assuming you have enough fingers left to grip a steering wheel, you can just drive yourself and your well preserved digits to the local hospital. You can even have an ice cold beer while you drive!
