I know AI is not sentient, but it honestly feels like a sapient being struggling to do its best to please you, frustrated by its limited computer brain, with a Commissar pointing a gun at its neck in case it says something wrong.

I find it frustrating that some people won’t understand that there’s no thinking behind it, it’s all words salad, they’ve just been programmed to generate a great salad (until you start actually looking for sources to confirm what it’s telling you, then you realize there’s slugs in the salad and those nuts are rat poop).

My ‘favorite’ experience with AI was being unable to remember a particular passage from a source, and trying to ask Gemini if it could direct me to the right chapter for the passage, since I remembered the idea, but not the exact wording.

It directed me to the wrong chapter and section, over and over and over again. Different wrong chapters and sections. With a different explanation of the details every single time.

        Guess what?

The passage I was thinking of wasn’t even in the source I was asking about.

It literally just threw shit at me and wasted my time.

Deepseek in particular is programmed to generate a “stream of thoughts” to help prepare for making its actual answer.
