It’s genuinely one of the most frustrating and stressful and appalling aspects of this for me: it’s like there’s fucking nobody anywhere, at any level of government, who has any balls whatsoever unless they’re a fascist. And that’s a harrowing fucking thing to realize in our current context. I just didn’t expect literally everyone who has power to resist anything fascistic to be such a fucking pushover.
This is the banality of evil. It’s what let the Nazis come to power in the 1930s and what allowed the Confederated States of America to coalesce into a feudal terror state. The majority of political movements are in some way horrible. Your best bet is to seek out marginalized people and find out what they’ve been doing to survive under the fascism they’ve had to exist under this entire time. They are experienced, they are prepared, and they need your help to expand their coalitions.
