I’m not sure anyone in the history of film has been allowed to repeatedly wipe their shitty ass with an iconic beloved franchise as this woman has with Star Wars, even after years of all her decisions literally turning to shit, and turning an entire generation off of a core global property, which needed to be treated with respect and love for it’s fans, this woman trashed it, and was allowed to keep trashing it. One of the more amazing business failures I’ve ever seen.
Don’t worry. You’ll hate the next one too. Nothing will live up to your standards because they’re absurd and what you really want is someone to blame for your frustrations of not being able to be as happy as you remember being at 10 years old watching Star wars for the first time, which no one can live up to.
On one hand I agree with you that especially the Star Wars fan base is full of petulant man children, on the other hand not having a plan and an overarching vision for the sequels and also giving episode 7 to JJ fraudrams to make a fucking cashgrab beat for beat remake with “totally not a death star bro” just to corner the whole trilogy into not being able to do anything creative and then backtracking after episode 8 to birth the irredeemable trash that is episode 9, that shit is just such a huge fuck up, that any other job and you are fired the next day.
Agreed. Not everyone who says the sequel trilogy is bad is an angry little pissbaby, but so many are, and I can’t help but think implicit (or, depending on the take, explicit) misogyny plays a role in encouraging that style of “discourse”. Like, OPs post is a whisper away from blaming DEI for handing their beloved franchise off to a clueless woman who didn’t give the fans the fawning worship that they are owed.
Also, if it worked, her hands off approach to corporate oversight of auteur creatives would be something we’d all be singing her praises for. Of course, it didn’t, but I’m not going to sit here and say, hmm yes, I want Disney corporate offices to have MORE control over their creatives, that will fix the lukewarm slop that the franchise is delivering!

It took a special kind of stupid to not have a plan for the sequel trilogy
They did. George Lucas handed it to them. Then they scrapped it all.

I wouldn’t call it high standards to ask for them to try harder than this:
