Vaccines are so good they’ve made a lot of very harmful diseases a distant memory meaning idiots don’t feel like they’re a threat anymore.

This is, in general, why I think current events are the way they are. Disease, Fascism, Populism, (lack of) separation of church/state, eroded Unions/labour rights, … it only took a few generations living without the personal pain caused by allowing these things to exist, for certain nations and people to forget.

I blame the internet. When I was a kid getting on the internet for the first time (in the mid 90s) I thought it was amazing to have such an incredible tool of information and communication. I thought it would bring the world together!

Now I see what it’s really done. Worse than I ever could have imagined. It’s a power and responsibility too much for most people. These idiots have begun to tear the world apart with their stupidity. They believe the most incredible bullshit!

It’s really frustrating. I wish we could go back to the era before the masses got on the internet.

As I’ve recently come to accept far to many people are incapable of learning except through experience. They simply can not be taught by words alone. This is a lot bigger problem in the long run than I think many consider.

Indeed. I remember thinking the saying “Those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it” was dumb as hell as a kid. But, here we are.
