🔥🔥🔥🔥
The post:

You all saw the news about a tesla set on fire in Capitol Hill. What is concerning is people condoning this, mostly on the other subreddit. Tesla owners are not the enemy, in fact most of them are on the left. Question for other tesla owners specifically, what do you think? Any precautions you are taking in this current political climate?

General advice

comprehensive insurance, sentry mode, be vigilant, and gap insurance if you are financing your tesla car in current political situation Results from talking with few people on here after spending some time over last few days. Thank you for your time for the banter. Appreciate it

General consensus: it is ok to damage/vandalize tesla cars, intimidate tesla owners for the greater good. I hope it is not general consensus in real life and just on reddit. sell the car. These people I assume either are kids/teenagers or do not have a clue how finances work it’s a lemon. Probably never actually drove a cybertruck owning a tesla is supporting Nazis : don’t know the difference between someone acting like a nazi and literal Nazis from 1930s Germany I am saddened by fellow Americans who think it’s ok to destroy personal property. I sincerely hope it is only mob thinking on Reddit and doesn’t reflect the good people of Seattle

I am going to take a break from politics and discussing politics. I only see extremism on both sides.

My Tesla owning neighbors are: parking in the garage (juggled their junk) using their non-Tesla when they are parking in places such as park and rides or downtown concerts test driving alternatives. Best of luck.

🤣

AG announced today they will pursue all those attacking Teslas with maximum punishment. If they set it on fire they are looking at 20 years in prison. I recommend getting video and trying to take off their mask or get anything to identify them. Make it public and watch them spend a decade in jail.

👮‍♂️

If you shoot someone for destroying your property, you’re going to prison.

What if they miss? They will meet in prison and become best buddies 💯 👨‍❤️‍👨

Just imagine this story. Tesla owner and hater fall in love in the prison showers, isn’t it romantic?

am no lawyer but federal crimes are handled differently. This is domestic terrorism.Definition directly from FBI website:Source: https://www.*.gov/investigate/terrorism

You bought a Cybertruck? Oof

—— I love it. It’s the best car I drove in my life. It is better than the Volvo I have. It in fact got me back into taking road trips again.

Personally, I would have been looking to get rid of my Tesla around 2018 when the “pedo guy” statement happened and it started becoming publicly obvious that Elon Musk was going insane. They still held a good resale value for a few years after that, I don’t think they should have, but they did.

I wouldn’t have been caught dead driving one past maybe 2022 or so after their terrible reliability and build quality became public knowledge as well as Elon’s public meltdowns and fascism. Sell it to a MAGA rube and get yourself a Nissan or a Ford EV with the money from the sale.

Yet here we are in 2025 making excuses for people who bought the car in 2016 and didn’t do anything about it for 9 years, now that this year it’s become unpopular and largely unsellable. If you didn’t see the writing on the wall for 9 years then that’s on you.

My dad was one of the people that bought a Tesla in 2016 and by 2020 he had gotten rid of it for a Nissan because he refused to be associated with the brand anymore. I think most Tesla owners would have had that opportunity at some point in the intervening years. It’s not like they’ve been driving a 30 year old beat to shit Honda that they’re trapped in, they all went and bought Teslas, those were essentially luxury cars. If you were well off enough to buy a Tesla the first time around you’re probably well enough off to trade it for a different car.

It’s unreasonable to expect everyone to have been paying that much attention, frankly, but let me put it to you a different way: who does this hurt? Very few people are going to buy a new Tesla, but the ones that are already bought-and-paid-for represent tens of thousands of dollars of investment for an individual. At best, this person needs another ride and are out a lot of money. It might be life-changing, in a bad way. At worst, they pay more money to Tesla to get it fixed it for a replacement, meaning another sale for the company. “They should have known earlier and done something about it then” is pretty strict for something so abstract; most people do not keep tabs on the activities of the CEOs of companies they buy their appliances from. Remember, most people had to research Project 2025 after the election.

Everyone downvoting me should bloody well sit back and think how the destruction of their primary vehicle would impact them, in real terms. How do you get to work? How do you get groceries or drop off the kids? How much money does it cost you per day/week/month? Don’t forget, your car lender isn’t going to give a shit if insurance didn’t cover the damage and you can’t get to work - they want they payment on time and it’s your responsibility.

And before anyone gets smug that they don’t have a primary vehicle, or if they do that they don’t rely on it for anything: Through the power of imagination, you can for the duration of this exercise!

I just don’t think hurting normal people like this is the way to go, so I voice my opposition to it.
