That’s sad. Simpsons, the staple of always on somewhere is now just a stream on the Disney. And the only thing worse than the Disney channel is Hulu, so no wonder they paired up a long time ago.

In any case: are they going to be original as shown, or the zoomed in and cropped version from the last time this was tried?

Gags get cut, the animation looks weird, people are out of frame, etc.

Disney+ offers the ability to view the first 19 seasons in their original 4:3 aspect ratio. It’s been that way for nearly five years now.

When they first acquired the franchise, they cropped them. I wasn’t sure when or if they started showing the original format. I saw the results of that, and wow it looked awful. Apparently people complained enough to change it back.

Clearly I don’t check in with Disney, I could never imagine paying for it.

Disney has launched a brand-new 24/7 Stream for “The Simpsons”, offering 767 episodes across seasons 1 thru 35, which are programmed in chronological order at launch. This means a total of nearly 300 continuous hours with the Simpsons family.

So instead of selecting your own season/episode and skip the bad ones, we are back at linear TV? But now you pay for it.

I mean this doesn’t take away your option to select a season/episode, it just adds another feature.

Sometimes not having to make a choice is better than having to think. Especially if you just want some mindless background entertainment.

That said i’d say this is not quite linear TV, but closer to just another playback mode to choose from, like random shuffle. Because this is lacking any form of curation or variety.
