Clear censorship and bias of the admins and mods of .ml. As long as you’re saying things that align with the tankie mindset, it’s all good. @[email protected] has gotten so bad lately that some of their comments have started to get removed, but no bans in sight when anybody (i.e. those not with the IN crowd) else would have gotten at a minimum a 30 day ban from multiple .ml comms had they even gotten close to the things Brain has been saying LONG ago.

That tells me they fully agree with what they’re saying, but are just doing damage control.

After this post went live Brain did catch a ban for a whopping…24 hours lol talk about getting the “Kid Glove” treatment

Lemmy doesn’t have an algorithm tho. You either browse all comms your instance is federated with, or those you’ve explicitly subscribed to.

So a set of predefined filters decide the subset of data I will see on the fediverse?

I think there’s a word for personalized data feeds.

It doesn’t ‘personalize’ it for you though, you do that for yourself

All the default sorting algorithms do is sort by basic global metrics like time and activity - anything else is done by the user (blocking, subscribing, ect) and the instance (federation or banning).

People misunderstand just how broad a term ‘algorithm’ actually is.

It’s got an inbox and a spam folder and I use the client to subscribe to RSS feeds. Email and lemmy have more in common than they have differences.

You’re using an open source platform bud, you have complete control over your ‘algorithmic’ feed. People just seem to want control over other people’s feeds, too.

Makes as much sense as “I tried email, but it seems to be just Tankies who use it”

      Email isn’t really community oriented.
