So-called “active clubs” have proliferated across the US and are a combination of fitness and mixed martial arts groups that often espouse neo-Nazi and fascist ideologies, openly taking their historical cues from the Third Reich’s obsession with machismo and European soccer hooliganism.

Active clubs have emerged as perhaps the most dangerous form of far-right political organizing today. With links to other militant organizations, including Patriot Front, they encourage a seemingly mainstream version of masculinity, layered with ideologies promoting a US race war and using the popularity of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) as a gateway to recruiting.

I work with the public, and had a customer in front of me with a black hoodie, white logo. Its a christian cross, but made of nails.

First glance I think punk or some other genre of rock band. But as we move along the transaction, im getting odd vibes. Now, I dont know for sure, he was polite and easy so who cares? But that logo is derived from some bible story, and is a Christian sports apperal brand?

To be fair, I avoid buying sportwear I know to be made by child slaves or any abused people. But you need your running shoes to be made people of the same religion? Fucking weird.

Also more to the point, the recruitment strategies of hate groups is scary. Remembering how out of fucking place I was in little league, whew some of these kids dont stand a chance. We have to love and teach our children as best we can, even if you are not a parent you are a part of a community.

they encourage a seemingly mainstream version of masculinity

Ah yes, the current mainstream version of masculinity that totally isn’t layered with bigoted ideologies. Joe Rogan, Jordan Peterson and Andrew Tate must be seething that these neo nazis are turning masculinity into a bad dark joke that promotes hatred for women, LGBTQ+ people and even non white people under the guise of being anti woke.

Not that crying isn’t masculine. It is. But……
