      One of my grandmothers is actually left-handed and told me her teachers would hit her left hand if she tried to write with it. She was forced to write with her right hand.

      One of my cousins (another grandchild of hers), is left-handed. It sounds so absurd that it would be a “problem” that required anyone to beat them so they’d write with their other hand.

          I remember that being a plot point in a Power Rangers episode. :P The confusion between “sinister” and “left”. That’s how I first learned it meant the same.

          From your link, I find it super interesting that “dexter” is the opposite. In Spanish, there’s the word “diestro”, which I bet comes from that.
