I definitely don’t want to see how many people like a song I’m listening to or what they have to say about it. I want my music experience to be more personal. I will just go to normal YouTube if I want to discuss something.

Ugh, I still miss GPM so much. YTM is worse to me in just about every way.

I mean I get why they’re doing it, they’re trying to make the UX more akin to Youtube and then, further into the future, Youtube Shorts.

Modern media sales is all 0-attention-span instant-engagement with as little actual content as possible. Hence why instead of reading a joke and laughing about it, people will watch a short video about some guy reading off the line then laughing about it for you. Which is just wild to me, and all the time having his head in the way of actually being able to read the line he has on screen.

And now it’s bleeding into music UX design, which is even worse because by its nature, audio content of either type (story or art, or both) is not the same as video content. No matter how little content the video even has.

It’s sad that music UX is adopting these principles, tbh. Music is inherently a long(er) form experience. It deserves separate treatment. The last thing I personally want is for music apps to try to suck my attention as much as text- and video-based apps do. I know I’m fighting against the app economy headwinds in that desire, but I still dare to dream…

There is already YouTube music shorts. Well not created by users (automatic or maybe artists can make it not sure 🤔 )but it is there already, it is called “Samples”. https://imgur.io/a/3Tssgy8

They had it so right with GPM. I wish they had gave more shits about it. I even paid for that shit because it was good enough to remind me of the old days of using foobar to listen to music.

Don’t you want to read hundreds of comments with “Who’s listening this in [insert year here]?” or how that song was the favourite of a dead relative? Lame.

No, seriously. Those are 90% of the comments I read in music videos on YouTube. Another 5% are the lyrics pasted continuously.

Who wanted this? Who asked for this?

Like, ytm has boneheaded problems like “wear os client only lists your first 99 albums”. The fact that you can’t sort albums by artist is bonkers. But they’re adding comments? What???

I need comments enabled to know if people are listening to a song in current year.

The Android Auto client is still utter trash. Want to search for an artist or song - too fucking bad, it better be in a playlist or you’re SOL

I use Spotify, but I don’t think I’ve ever been listening to a song and wanted to read comments on it. Let alone YouTube comments.

What WOULD be cool is something like Genius to better understand the lyrics, or a little wikipedia blurb with info on the artist / song history

Genius used to be a part of Spotify and it was removed then they brought back a worse lyrics feature.

The number 1 feature request is to disable censored songs, I never want the clean version and its a coin toss which I get.

Spotify is the best of a really shit bunch.

I’m gonna assume a ReVanced patch jumps to remove this very quickly because I don’t give a single flying fuck what people have to say about a song I’m listening to.

Save, download, and radio buttons are nice but bin that other shit.

I’m gonna go against the grain and say this is awesome and I’m excited for it. I love talking to other people about less-popular songs. I think it could really add a cool social aspect

This isn’t even as terrible as them shoving Shorts into YT Music, but it’s definitely on the downward slope. Streaming music was a mistake. You can only keep skipping to the next walled garden.

It’s really a shame. I switched to Spotify and it’s really just as bad. I listen to way too much different music to be able to afford to buy all of it though. Maybe Pandora for radio and buying albums is the way of the future.

Seriously? I’m still on an ancient version of YT Music Vanced cause I’ve been too lazy to update (not ReVanced, but the OG Vanced). No Shorts for me. Guess I’ll never update it.

@Psythik @gencha I use one of the millions of YT music clients on F-Droid (ViMusic) and it works like a charm, though if you want Google account support you’ll have to use ReVanced manager to patch a compatible version of YT music.
