    Maybe instead of dumping all this money into space force for no other reason we should utilize it to this extent

    LEO junk is fine because the junk will quickly undergo orbital decay

    high orbits should be monitored more closely though

      Fedi is weirdly more downvote happy than reddit used to be. You made a simple factual statement, either true or false. Nobody’s pointing out any mistakes, just downvotes.

  • Actually a division of STRATCOM is responsible for space debris and making sure the US nuclear arsenal can get through to their targets without collision. While I don’t believe they’ve engaged in cleaning operations, theyve definitely informed policies about reducing the rate of debris accumulation.

    Now that Space Force is a thing, sweeping debris is a problem that would be within its mission parameters. I can’t say if anything is actually happening, though.
