Literally shaped his life
The Name of the Rose opened my ten year old eyes about religion.
I haven’t thought of that movie in forever. Based on the book’s description it sounds like I need to rewatch
I still remember standing behind the living room’s doors that were slightly ajar and watching all the way through. I can’t have been older than ten. The love scene absolutely awoke something in me, hahaha! But even with that, what really stayed with me was the profound humanism of Baskerville, the various orders and their clashing viewpoints and the consequences. Fascinating stuff. And my family having a lot of preachers and evangelist, the way religion was portrayed really resonated with me. I could never go back to blind faith after seeing this movie. Never did.
It’s hard for me to imagine someone losing A HUNDRED FUCKING POUNDS and still being overweight. Wow.
