Please comment with what communities you would like to be added here.
For mod creation I need both the url style name (experienced_devs
) and the Display name (Experienced Devs
)
Could we get a sysadmin community please?
And a privacy community?
Thanks
Made them here: https://programming.dev/c/sysadmin and https://programming.dev/c/privacy after thinking a bit more
If you make a post and let me know I can make you a mod if you want
I would like too add
neovim
/Neovim
community. As a fellow neovim user, great idea! :) I’ve added it! If you post there I can make you mod if you want :)
Can we have
commandline
(both url and display name)? In order to share recommendations & news about software that runs on the terminal, without a UI.+1 (hopefully will get pinged when created)
Done! https://programming.dev/c/commandline
Post in it and I’ll mod you if you want :)

Thanks, I can help moderating it.
Done! :)
I’m not a local programming.dev resident, but I’d be interested in a code golf community.
It could be really fun to host/participate in challenge threads, and posts about some fun golfs.
Created! [email protected] I love code golf!
Can we get a community for esoteric languages? Maybe “esolangs” for the url to copy the old subreddit, and Esoteric Languages for the display name?
I second this
Created at https://programming.dev/c/esolangs, if you want to be a mod for it make a post and let me know
Sure thing! I’m willing to be a mod for it, and I made a post in the community
modded
dotnet
community would be nice. Display name.NET
. And I could moderate it as well.Edit: We should have
docker
Docker
too.Done in c/dotnet!
On c/docker…, sorry if I was a bit unclear, I was more referring to the proposal to create a Docker community. unfortunately, it seems to me that I don’t have enough experience in both Docker and community moderation to be a good mod in c/docker.
Nice, modded! That’s fine :) If you change your mind just let me know :)
Thanks!
Could we get programminghorror (Programming Horror) please? I’ve got some content to post 😆
Created at https://programming.dev/c/programming_horror , If you want to be a mod for it make a post in the community and let me know

Some playtesting communities for game Dev Playmygame, destroymygame Would be great
Created at https://programming.dev/c/play_my_game and https://programming.dev/c/destroy_my_game , If you make a post and let me know I can make you a mod if you want
Thank you , will do it now. What happens if there are other communities like that already in the fediverse? Nevermind there is none. Just checked
Ive modded you on both. If you dm me on matrix https://matrix.to/#/@ategon:matrix.org I can invite you to mod chats there.
If theres ever duplicate communities it just gives people options for which one they want to participate in if they dont like how one is being handled, etc. Theres four main programming communities around and they all have different moderation teams, rules, instances they federate with, etc.
Thank you I’ll put up a side bar soon
Anyone else game for a Django community? I can help mod if you need.
Got a django community created at https://programming.dev/c/django. If you make a post or comment I can mod you
I think we should have
linux

Created over at https://programming.dev/c/linux! If you want to be a mod let me know and make a post in the community
Could we get
terraform
andpulumi
?Created at https://programming.dev/c/terraform and https://programming.dev/c/pulumi , If you make a post and let me know I can make you a mod if you want
Done. I can mod both of them.
Modded
I’d love to see a functional programming community (url name:
fp
, display nameFunctionalProgramming
). I’m most interested in Haskell, but it might be best to start with a larger umbrella and split into smaller communities if/when there’s a sufficiently large userbase to justify it.I think elsewhere it was mentioned that there’s a 3-character limit on the urls, perhaps
fp-langs
?perhaps
functional-programming
. That would be more inclusive of people doing functional programming in languages that might not necessarily be considered “fp languages”.Created over at https://programming.dev/c/functional_programming! If you post in the community I’ll make you a mod if you want
I’m working on getting the 3 character url limit removed, but probably will be a while…
Can we get a “Svelte” community, for all things Svelte and SvelteKit - url name (sveltejs) display name (SvelteJS).
sorry, I never responded! it looks like Ategon handled it for you.
CSCareerQuestions
with this exact URL, please. I searched for this name on the programming.dev instance and was led to this comment that suggestsask_experienced_devs
is a replacement for CSCQ, but /r/CSCQ had a different focus from /r/experienceddevs. Junior developers and interns were also allowed to contribute to CSCQ and the discussions were specifically focused on finding work in the CS industry, whileask_experienced_devs
implies that any kind of question directed at senior devs is allowed.CSMajors
(discussion for CS undergrads) and anEngineeringResumes
(rate my resume) equivalent would also be great to see.Alright I can make a new one for it. For URL all of the current URLs in the instance are snake case so it would be made with cs_career_questions as the slug (but display name matches that text)
CSMajors https://programming.dev/c/cs_majors
CS Career Questions https://programming.dev/c/cs_career_questions
Engineering Resumes https://programming.dev/c/engineering_resumes
If you want to be a mod for any of them make a post in the community and let me know
