They’ve done this so much justice so far. As a manga reader I’m very happy with this adaptation. All of the characters sound exactly how I’d imagined them.
Evan Call is also continuing to prove why he’s amongst my favorite composers, his music is complimenting this show incredibly well. I swear everything he makes is magical.
It captures the melancholy really well too. The atmosphere is perfect.
Ditto. I guess that the only thing preventing it from being perfect is that, while the intro is great, it doesn’t quite fit well the “tone” of the series, at least for me.
Having read the manga, I think this is one of the best examples of the anime adaptation enhancing the original work. I really enjoy the story pacing so far, the anime doesn’t hesitate to slow down on some story bits to let us soak in the world and character’s emotions. It’s a very comfy pacing. Then on top of that, the beautiful animation and OST just takes this to another level. I can’t commend the OST enough, it is SO good.
Another fantasy series I was excited for this season was S-rank daughter. I enjoyed the LN story, but the Frieren anime adaptation just blows it out of the water in terms of animation quality and makes it look like an amateur production.
Frieren mimic’d: twice
I’m surprised that she found a real chest for once!
It is here. Love every second of the 4 episodes. Frieren’s various faces are cute and funny and love how she is changing in her another journey with new member. Evan Call (Violet Evergarden) OST is spectacular and really fit the mood of the anime. Keiichiro Saitou directing another AOTY?
Glad I decided to watch this. I really like the manga, so I wasn’t sure if this was going to add something worthwhile, but it does. The music is done really well and the VAs for Frieren and Fern fit perfectly, really elevating the entire thing.
Incredible start to this series. One of my favorite manga of all time, come to the new medium in an exceptional adaptation to the beginning arc of this story. So far, this series really rewards a careful viewing, providing so many details and emotion in the visuals on screen rather than having a character explain everything with exposition. The show isn’t afraid to let time pass, not just in the story, but to linger on a shot, extend a montage, or have a silly sequence just to provide some characterization. This story, much like another of my favorites, Mushishi, embodies melancholy so well. I can’t wait to see the rest of the series get this kind of treatment.
I didn’t read the manga and watched 3 episodes, it’s very pleasant and well made. It seems it’s going to have plenty of episodes, that’s good.
Congratulations to Frieren seiyuu Tanezaki Atsumi getting married.
I’m really happy with the adaptation so far. I love the manga, and this looks like it will be true to the source. It looks like they are covering roughly 2 chapters per episode covering up to ch8. Ep1- covered ch1 and first half of 2 Ep2- rest of ch2 and 3 Ep3- ch4/5 Ep4- ch6/7/8 - Even if ch8 was squeezed into the last 4 minutes of the episode, everything flowed well.
I was wondering how they would so the multiple episodic adventures between large arcs, but if they can squeeze in 3 at a time every once in a while, this anime should be able to adapt a fair bit. I wonder if they intend to cover up to ch36, before the second big arc. Since I see Sein is in the opening, which I would not have expected season 1 to get to.
4 episodes as the opening is truly worthy, the animation is great the story is truly amazing. It’s a 10/10 so far.
Very comfy start of the series. I love the little things that were animated like earrings. I am very much looking forward to it.
