Finally got back into sailing the high seas and, first thing i did after getting plex set up was get parks and rec since ive missed it so bad after it left netflix. Its great so far but occasionally it loses track of what ive watched and picks up in the middle of like 9 episodes back?

Then again I was also having the same problem sometimes with hulu…could this possibly be something to do with my roku itself?

Sometimes when you skip the credits or manually go to the next episode it doesn’t register it as watched. I figure it has something to do with the remaining time before you skip

I’ve just been letting it run while I watch TV. Then like I come back later and it starts back up a bunch of episodes back and when I go to look at my history it doesn’t even show that the episodes had been watched.

Yeah, it can be flaky. Scan your episode lists and if anything is missing a Watched indicator that you know should be there, set it manually. I don’t know the Roku GUI (every Plex GUI is kind of different) but either long-pressing the action button or using a button on the screen should let you set an ep to Watched.

Do you use multiple devices? This occurs to me if start watch on iPad, pause there and finish on tv without properly closing the iPad app. If I now go back to the iPad, it overwrites the progress of the Paused episode with progress on iPad.

Hmm… So plex running directly on “smart” TV or via a device plugged in to a TV? Either way, I think the knowledge about which operating system is running on the playing device would make failure analysis more easy.

It’s a completely up to date Roku. The computer is Windows 10.

edit- Roku is software version 12.5.0 build 4172 - CR. Just hit me the different models might run slightly different.

Because Plex is buggy as absolute fuck. Pray to God that this is the worst you get.

Edit: lol who in the actual fuck downvoted this comment and why?

You want it to work all of the time, well, frankly that’s just unreasonable

Unfortunately Plex is just kind of crap like that.

One time it decided that it only had episode 6 series 4 of bones, and none of the others even though they were sat right there in the file system, I could play them and everything from Windows. How did it manage that, no idea.

When it does stuff like that you just have to resync your library and eventually it’ll actually do it and start working again.
