One of my favorite novels, extremely well written with very good world building and an amazing use of universe specific parables that add a uniqueness to the novel. The MC is complex, probably neutral evil and commits questionable actions only if it benefits him. The way everything has a consequences later down the line gives a real stake in what the characters do and what has happened and could happen. Most characters aren’t stupid or arrogant. Gu’s are also a unique tool, similar to the demon war’s saga but instead of rocks/minerals it’s “bugs” and has much more depth.

You’re welcome, I do still encourage checking the story out either in the book or manga format as it’s still got a great premise even though it gets cut early because of the censors.
I heard another angry author that was jealous of RI’s popularity reported the novels and got it banned. I don’t think we will ever know the real truth. It is a very unique situation and yeah the MC going against the centralized all powerful government could be a reason, but I think it’s more then that. Maybe personal reasons or corruption were involved.

There’s also a manga adaptation but it only got to around 70 chapters before it was banned too iirc.

If you haven’t read the novel I would recommend it even if it’s not finished, there is still a lot of good reading to be had with 2kish chapters.
