After searching for a bit i find THIS article with all the announced sales dates. According to it there are still 3 main sale dates left:

  • Return of Steam Scream Fest (Halloween): October 26 - November 2 (additional details to come)
  • Autumn Sale: November 21 - 28 (major seasonal sale)
  • Winter Sale: December 21 - January 4, 2024 (major seasonal sale)

Anyone know if there are any concrete chance to have a discount on the console in these days?

    1. Refurbished ones are just as good as fresh ones, and basically always “on sale” since their price is reduced.

    2. Valve seems to be moving towards a very likely Steam Deck Refresh. Very little is known about when or how this will happen. Based on previous comments and data-mining, the refresh will have the exact same amount of gaming-power. It may, however, have a better WiFi-chip, better screen, and stuff like that. Nothing is certain and if you want a Deck soon-ish, I wouldn’t recommend waiting for this.

Got a 64GB refurb when they were in stock end of September, honestly I couldn’t tell it was a refurb. It looked like new, the only thing that might have given it away was the carrying case, had a few small smudges but I got a Tomtoc anyway so it didn’t matter anyway.

they are only worth it if you go for the 64gb sale price of the 512gb makes it a much better option than the refurb 512gb

      UK PRICE

      refurb £459 for 512GB

vs the 20% sale off price of £455.20 brand new, Yes it’s not a huge money saving here but it’s still a brand new untouched no blemishes minty condition steamdeck for less than the refurb price, but a huge prove saving from a new one of £569 (£113.80) off the new price 👍

Given how bad the WIFI chip of the current Steam Deck is (it just doesn’t like some access points and has frequent connection losses with them), waiting for an updated one might be worth it.

My understanding is that the Steam Deck itself is sold at a loss, so if there is a sale it’s likely to be only 10%, like it was last sale

They had higher discounts on higher tier devices last sale, but I think it’s more cost effective to just buy the lowest tier and a third party ssd.

It depends on the tier of deck. The lowest tier is sold at a loss, but after than steam decks generate some profit

I bought the base model on sale and got a 1TB Samsung SSD off AliExpress and in total it was cheaper than the 512GB model

Yep as my 64gb ssd is filling just from downloading and redownloading vulcan shaders every time an micro sd card is inserted with steam games.

Wait for a sale for products that you want that have gone on sale before. Saving money is the coolest.

Yes wait for a Steam sale. https://steamdb.info/sales/history is good for tracking them, although they are usually all the same dates every year, so not exactly unpredictable.

They are clearing inventory of the current SKUs ready for the refreshed ones, so it’s highly likely it will be on sale again this month and/or during the Autumn sale in November.

I have a base deck with a 1TB SD card and haven’t wanted for the more expensive model except for once. Baldurs Gate 3 absolutely thrashed my deck between shaders and massive save files. I eventually symlinked the save problem away from internal storage to SD and it’s been smooth sailing ever since.

For what it’s worth, a newer deck might be on the scene soon with a better WiFi chip, but the current one has been fine.

Depends how badly you’d like to save $50 (Assuming you’re getting the 64gb model).

If you’re willing to take it apart, you can save some money by buying the 64GB one and swapping out the SSD.

I would say wait for a sale, but easy for me to say since I already have my deck since over a year ago. If you’re strapped for cash or just working within a budget for the year, then yeah you can easily save at least 50 or more bucks on one. If money isn’t really an object and you got upcoming travel plans where you can capitalize on the steam deck’s mobility, then it’s worth it at current price too. I have easily spent over a grand on the steam deck from the actual unit (512 version at 650), 2tb SSD, 1tb SD card, case, dock, skins, back pad accessories, 1tb usb flash drive with usb c/usb a, etc.

So all to say, if you like tinkering/making it your own, and are trying not to blow out your budget entirely, may be worth to save. I am glad I got the anti glare screen as I’m still not up for replacing the screen myself, but if the lowest model had the same screen, would have gotten that one and just swapped the SSD.

if you wait for a sale, there may be a big rush on orders, and it may take longer to get one, once you do order.

look at the old sale prices to see if the discount is worth it for you for any potential delays.

Check the second hand market. That’s how I got a 2TB one (with hub and Xbox Wireless controller) for less than what the 256GB one costs new and out of the sales period.

It looks like this year they’ve had a 10% discount off the cheapest model. So that’s ~$40 off. I think it’s worth waiting the 9 days for the Halloween sale to see. If not, I’d be very surprised if it’s not on sale for Autumn. I would be surprised if any of these sales have a deeper discount than any of this year’s earlier sales though.

If you plan on replacing the SSD, those will probably go on sale around Black Friday. It would kind of be a pain to settle in with the Deck and get everything set up and installed how you like just to replace the SSD a month later.

My idea is to get the console, get a 250gb microsd and, eventually, wait summer sales x a ssd.

I haven’t bought one, yet, but I think you should wait for a sale. Christmas time is usually the best time to buy electronics, so I personally plan to wait until the winter sale.

Hoping for >25% off, but we’ll see.
