John Mastodon really had his meme game up to par before we even were a thought in an old Zenith TV reflection.
Even back then, the Mac was massively overpriced compared to what it was capable of.
The IBM XT from the same year cost twice as much for roughly twice the specs, and with an interface only dorks like us would love. The Mac Tax wasn’t really a thing until the PowerPC era.
I don’t know if this is a genuine photo or a recreation. Having a mouse back then would have been pretty extravagant.
Edit: Never mind, the Macintosh 128K came with a mouse in 1984
Light pens were the extravagant thing on most microcomputers of that time. It’s easy to see in hindsight why they never caught on, but at the time they were the pointing device of choice.
IIRC mice were basically only on Macs and some high end workstations in the early 80s.
