    There is actually a small shed-like structure right under there, hence the appearance of ungodly thiccness.

          We laugh, but a shot of those gorgeous leaves with all sky behind/above them would also be pretty great.

            It would! Too bad I took this pic last week, and today it’s already cold and snowing. Most of the leaves are gone :(

              Part of what makes fall color so breathtaking is its evanescence. There’s something beautiful about the last few bright leaves on dark branches against the snow, too.

              Here in Los Angeles there’s very few types of trees that turn bright colors; mostly just liquidambar and crape myrtle. And with our hot Santa Ana Winds still coming, and no frost, they often finally turn just in time for Christmas, lol.
