My Parker Fly Classic. Doesn’t get the love she deserves since the band broke up

So cool and love the color! While I can’t remember the model now, I had a fly back in the early 00’s and frequently miss it sorely. People seemed to view them as “weird”, but the one’s I recall played like butter and were quite versatile. IIRC, the builder has moved on to archtops now that still use the head stock design and have a crazy price tag now.

What kind of music do you make on it?

Yeah, Ken Parker sold the company back in the 00’s if I recall correctly. Mainly a lot of hard rock/metal, but I’ll occasionally get bluesy on it. Can take whatever you throw at it, that’s for sure!!

MOTHERFUCKER! I’ve spent literally the past 10 years trying to find this guitar again, I remembered seeing it when I was a teenager and could never remember it’s name again. Today, I went to a guitar store and asked the guys around and one of them helped me identify it. Immediately after that, I come here on Lemmy and see your post with one… Lmao. Beautiful guitar, always wanted one.

Story behind it - my band had a gig at this place where there wasn’t a bunch of room on stage, so you’re constantly tripping over your cables. I was dead set on buying a good wireless, planned on dropping like 6-700 on a Shure or Samson I think? As I walked through the door, what’s sitting on a stand with a used tag on it… I flipped the tag around and couldn’t believe my eyes - $1,000.00. I just grabbed it and walked to the counter and said take my money. At first they couldn’t find the hard case it came with and gave me a gig bag to get it home. Two days later they called and said I could swap the gig bag for the hard case so I did. To this day I still do not own a wireless.

I love it, but I get that a lot of people don’t. It’s not really the kind of guitar you want to play if you generally play sitting down. If you’re actually up and moving around though, it’s a dream. Can play an hour set and barely even know its there, it only weighs 4.5 lbs. I also love the thinness of the neck and how fast it plays.

These guitars are a dream for me. Every time I see barber from disco biscuits playing his I start browsing reverb and eBay. Do you like tbr carbon fiber fretboard?

Honestly you don’t really notice it. Bends are effortless anyway with the stainless frets# . The thing I DO like about it is you can just clean it with a damp rag versus using lighter fluid or simple green and then having to oil it afterwards. Visually I love it with the lack of fret markers, but that’s just an aesthetic thing.
