Nothing particularly original, but it’s mine, so here goes.

  • Earfun Free 2: good for listening to podcasts on the go.
  • House keys: well, duh.
  • Olight imini: handy and really tiny flashlight.
  • Mini push dagger: oldest thing in there, got it more than 20 years ago. Says “United” & “Taiwan” on the sheath, so it likely is from United Cutlery.
  • Kershaw Launch 11: my current all-time favorite pocket knife. Small enough to fit in a 5th pocket (but not “deep-carry”), yet handles really well with my not-too-meaty hands.
  • Bellroy Card Sleeve Black: small enough to keep credit cards and such in regular pants’ front pockets.
  • Zippo Lighter Spectrum: really a fidget toy for me since I do not smoke, so pretty though !
  • Kleenex mini pocket tissues: the runny nose unwavering companion.

Not on picture: Samsung Galaxy S20 with a Spigen Tough Armor case.

Til. However in the land of the Opinel ‘it’s too slice cheese for on my baguette’ would instantly mean legitimate reason.

Knife laws varies from state to state.
In my experience it’s more about specific features and sizes than what we traditionally think of categories.

Knife laws are poorly written/defined. Push knife with only one sharpened edge 2.5" and under? legal so long as it is not concealed almost anywhere. Lethality of a push knife 2.5" or under with one sharpened edge? Just as lethal if punched into the throat.

Defense by any means is a natural right.

It’s legal to purchase and own any kind of knife where I live, but not to carry them unless you have legitimate grounds to do so (self-defense is not one of them). In the case of a push dagger, it would be tricky to argue it’s to slice bread or open boxes.

It’s too bad that “I would be powerless before my enemies without one” isn’t legitimate grounds in the eyes of the law. I think those knives are actually pretty handy for opening boxes, plus they’re just cool. It’s too bad they have a stigma to them, because they’re really cool knives.

The kind that lives in the 21th century 😜

Kidding aside, pens are relegated in my bag, which usually contains the wallet with ID, work laptop, noise-cancelling headset, hand sanitizer, glasses case, etc. Thus it’s sort of EDC but not really.

Yeah I have also considered it. It’s quite wasteful to refill with lighter fluid that mostly evaporates since I do not use it all that much. I fear it will not feel like a zippo anymore with a butane insert though.

Some of them are not great. The classic zippo naphtha and wick style is more reliable, despite evaporation. Honestly a Bic is more trustworthy despite the unstylishness of them.

    mine

    • Pixel buds: great for taking calls or listening to audiobooks while doing mindless labor
    • Earplugs: I work in a loud manufacturing plant but also use them outside of work whenever things get loud like the swim meet this weekend.
    • Ken Onion Leek: handy for opening packages and slicing salami. I accidentally got it as a gift and didn’t realize it was easy open, but now I love it.
    • Seki clippers: I hate hangnails with a passion. Also handy to trim my nails as needed, some activities like guitar need shorter nails.
    • fountain pen: it’s nice to use and nobody else has orange ink so I know what was written by me.
