California congresswoman Barbara Lee also says sending controversial weapons risks costing the US its ‘moral leadership’

Afghanistan didn’t have a false Cassus belli, that was Iraq. Ironically Iraq appears to be doing okay these days.
Anti Western folks literally believe that Afghanistan was more illegal than Iraq. You aren’t going to convince them otherwise. It’s very similar logic and evidence that the folks that claim we should’ve invaded Saudi Arabia instead. It largely discounts a lot of the western narrative as false simply because of who it came from.
A lot of it is just KremlinGPT pushing Kremlin propaganda on social media.
Dunno why you’re getting downvoted, you’re 100% correct.
They’re getting downvotes because the US does have moral high ground over Russia, easily.
The US has done horrible shit, and it’s not nearly as bad as Russia.
But we arent being compared to Russia here, rather Ukraine
A bit off topic, but how many dislikes do you see, and what app are you using, or are you using the website? I couldn’t see any downvotes on kbin, or in jerboa when you posted.
It has 6 up and 2 down as of now; at the time I replied it had 0 up 2 down.
I’m on Memmy (iOS) via lemmy.world
I see 1 dislike each for @spacemonk’s comment and for @4am’s reply. I’m using the kbin website.
Those appeared later. I’d like to learn more about how kbin/Lemmy work. It is possible that the dislike came from their instance, and it just took some time for kbin to update it, or possibly there are some dislikes from other instances that we can’t see here.
This is the lone congressperson to vote against the Afghanistan War. The US is a monolith in many ways, but this is not the post to do it in.
Then go pass legislation for something fucking amazing like hundreds of tanks and aircraft.
Some people are just too fucking stupid for words.
One Democrat congressperson publicly not liking the thing that her own Democrat POTUS did. One. There’s always one of those, or a handful.
It’s good to be aware of these things, but thankfully it’s also not a pervasive sentiment within the party in charge of the executive branch at the moment.
