Just wondering, what AMD would need to do…to at least MATCH nvidias offering in A.I/dlss/Ray tracing tech

minus-squarecapn_hector@alien.topBlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·1 year ago AMD has to catch up to Intel first AMD still really has not caught up to Turing-level ray performance tbh. A 2080 Ti is roughly equal to a 3070, and both of them are 15% slower than a 7800XT in general raster, but yet 7800XT only ties them in ray performance. So it’s still literally slower than NVIDIA’s first-gen raytracing implementation.
minus-squareKakaphr4kt@alien.topBlinkfedilinkEnglisharrow-up1·1 year agoas long as raytracing is nothing more than a gimmick (and everything outside of extensive path tracing is imo), these comparisons are worthless. Much more important are things like DLSS/DLAA/FSR whatnots, and this is where AMD needs to keep up.
