The fascinating thing about this case was that cannibalism in itself it not a crime in German law. So it came down to proving it was manslaughter and not assisted dying.
This makes me think of all the idiots thinking Sweden has the most rapes in the world. Sweden has the most reported rapes in the world because Sweden has the broadest definition of rape in the world. Meanwhile, North Korea has zero reported rapes. People used this statistic to show Sweden had the most actual rapes in the world. Anyone who believes that is stupid but even Trump parroted this shit.
Extra creepy because the article mentions that he thinks there are 800 other people in Germany who are also cannibals.

I don’t know if it’s still the case but for years after it happened you could go on the forum and all his posts were there, including his chatting with his victim. It was really interesting seeing the two of them negotiating one of their deaths. And of course all Armins previous posts both trying to find victims and general cannibal chit chat.

I saw that episode of The IT Crowd and naively believed it to be purely fantastical.
One of the best episodes imo. It also has the intro where they mock the anti piracy campaigns.
