well it makes sense, having an iPhone and using temu are both extremely consumerist things to do. overpriced, yet (outwardly) polished looking items that have been heavily marketed as status symbols, like apple devices, is peak consumerism. on the other side, you have unpolished, mass produced trash for cheap. also peak consumerism, just on the other side of the spectrum.

you wouldn’t say you feel uncomfortable around disabled people or a specific race or gay people. why is it different when trans people are the target minority? I just fail to see the logic and I guess I’m just annoyed that I see me and my friends very existence being debated every time I go online.

well, rational explanations backed up with sources tends to be met with “I’m not reading that” from the people who would say trans people make them uncomfortable (and many more issues). I remember in middle school I had some shitty opinions, and people made fun of me for them. guess what, I realized pretty quick that if everyone around me thinks my opinions are shit, maybe there’s a chance I could be in the wrong here. I don’t know when we got the idea that people’s shitty opinions are somehow justified as political nuance once they hit 18, but these people have their head so in the sand they will not listen to reason, even when they are met with data showing how their viewpoints harm themselves, people around them, and people they love. this goes for more than the trans debate too, and I’m tired of people saying “oh well maybe if you’re nice to them!”. if you preach hate, expect hate.

nah actually if you’re “uncomfortable” around trans people you’re just a bigot. they just want to be left alone, and statistically speaking they are the least likely group to harm you. there’s nothing to be uncomfortable about and and anyone who says otherwise is just making excuses for thinly veiled transphobia.

the thing is, I think they can afford for him to be acquitted on the murder charges. the way the evidence was presented, he had a ghost gun and an illegal suppressor as well. whether they were planted or not is still up for debate, but that’s a slam dunk case that they can just give the maximum sentence for and move on. I don’t think the murder charges actually matter. I imagine if they can’t get him on murder we’ll quickly find out he was manufacturing drugs or some of bs charge they can give hime another 20 year sentence for and if the judge rules they can’t be served concurrently then bam, still a life sentence

to make an example of someone to try to dissuade others from following in his footsteps

2 days ago the “experts” were telling us how the shooters planning and brains were why he got out of the city so easily. now we’re being told that he just happened to have the gun, silencer, fake id, and manifesto all on his person? not a chance, feel bad for this guy who’s obviously a scapegoat and just the first similar looking dude they found

you can try to report it to a local animal cruelty prevention group however a lot of time what they can do is very limited

not down for “vigilante” murder? so you are down for corporate murder?

I don’t know when we got the idea that killing someone with a pen is better than killing someone with a sword. at least with a sword you have to look them in the eyes while you do it

depends on the person. my neighbors, who never walk their dog, barely feed it, and just let it out in the back yard for 3 hours a day (hoarders backyard in the city where all it can do is stand in the 2x2 corner where it uses the bathroom and bark, asking them to play with it) do not deserve a dog. for any responsible owner though, I agree

that’s not how our justice system tends to work unfortunately. if the shooter is caught, they will end up in prison, no doubt about it.

plus, from a purely socialogical standpoint, having a nameless person with an unknown story allows people to put whatever story they want on them, which makes them a way more compelling figure cause they can appeal to pretty much everyone

eh, a CEOs family has made their peace with the blood money. like most of us would never even consider marrying someone who is blatantly responsible for thousands of not millions if deaths. so I cant feel sympathy for a partner. I could feel sympathy for young kids, but the guy was 50, so it’s fair to assume any kids are at least 18, at which age you either cut contact with a parasite like that or become similar. I guess I just have a hard time feeling sympathy for people who are set for life off of the suffering of others and have never spoken up, attempted to change anything, or just left
