  • As a +10 year VR enthusiast. I am very much looking forward to all the new VR headsets that will come out in 2025 by tech giants. Maybe they don’t know how to make a great VR headset yet when even some major players who have been making VR headsets for years are still failing sometimes. Samsung have been making my favorite smartphones so i’m hoping their take on it will be good.

  • For me the only 8K content i tried on a VR display is just cranking up a game to 8K wich looked really good but also showed the textures and model geometry is not ready for that and also the games i tried ran at very low frame rates. But when i wasn’t moving around i could see very far, very clearly because of the amount of pixels per degree. I tried the witcher 3 and resident evil village maxed out. Running on a 3090. Village was insanely good looking but it was using all of the 24GB of Vram of the 3090. I really liked the visual settings in village. For me 8K on a VR display is more about having a big panel separated into small windows that all look clear.

  • I tried writing this comment for about 3 and a half hours and every part of my life i rethink to integrate linux just doesn’t work. I was about to end with fuck linux. I didn’t want the pain and all the bullshit i would have to deal with but i guess i could deal with a bit of pain and bullshit in my entertainment system after all. Let’s say i want to put linux on my legion go. What are the steps to get it up and running with all the pilots? Clearly the legion space software that controlls and updates everything automatically wouldn’t work. After that it’s my biggest pain right now. How tf can i connect my VR headset to it. I usually use virtual desktop to connect wirelessly but it doesn’t work with linux. I heard of ALVR but virtual desktop is just too damn good for me to want to use anything else so it would be great if it could work. After that i would really need to understand bottles and wine and whatever windows emulation stuff there is. If it even works for what i’m thinking. Do automatic mods installers even work on linux Let’s say for risk of rain or skyrim? After that there are some softwares i use for work that i might want available on the go like my 3D software sketchup but i’m trying to learn blender rn so maybe i could just get that instead and maybe photoshop and illustrator but i know adobe doesn’t play nice with linux. After all that i guess i would just explore what else i can do with linux. I need to sleep now XD anyways looking forward to whatever i can figure out with all of this either with help or alone.
