If only they didn’t make it so fucking difficult to actually get.

Haha I know, but like to pretend. I literally made the same point to my wife after reading like 10 pages of the Soviet Democracy book I was linked earlier.
We did eventually move further toward more democracy and socialist practices up until the red scare imo, but the foundations were definitely not as rosy as they paint it to be and many people lost their lives to push for progress.
Started with Soviet Democracy, very interesting so far
I’d wager they are moving back in the right direction, particularly a lot of anti-monopoly rules enforced by the EU being particularly notable at actually forcing change.
Something the US govt seems incapable of doing these days, tho I’ll give Lina Khan credit, she gave a good fucking effort.
Have you been paying attention at all?
Trump is literally actively “joking” about annexing Canada this week, and they’ve been exporting MAGA brain rot to Canada for years.
Trump also threatened to unilaterally invade/bomb Mexico to attack cartels.
How is that not directly interfering with “free and fair elections”
Hi I’m a lurker and I appreciated the responses.
Never really looked too deep on Cuba beyond what is obviously forced into my face by American education/media/“news” etc…
So interesting to see a dissenting opinion, I support socialism/communism tho I wish there were better examples of communism working to point to, as if the west didn’t actively work against it all the time lol.
But it is fair to say I think that it is a bit concerning how often it has devolved into essentially dictatorships of one kind or another, but basically since Reagan it’s not like we’ve actually had a honest legislature/election process.
Starfield wasn’t terrible, but it also wasn’t great, very mediocre. I bought the limited edition like a fool because I saw the gameplay trailers and thought it looked awesome. I should have expected there would be very little depth to any of the systems.
Fallout 4 and Skyrim are my top played games on Steam by a mile, but I always play heavily modded.
We had a little of it in 5th/6th grade in Texas when I was in school, however absolutely nothing in High School, I did have a game dev class hosted by a coach who barely knew how to work a computer. Definitely didn’t just play games during that whole class or anything.
I’m not sure that sounds much better lmao
Ahhh I appreciate this explanation, I’ve started learning how docker works from setting up my home lab over the last month, I actually was already using Bazzite on my old “fuck around” laptop lol. Now the dots are connecting.

It’s funny it happened to Apple too
Completely agree, I think of industrialization as well when comparing it.
Steel plow comes to mind.
I used to love to read, just don’t really have the drive to do that anymore over playing a game, fucking with my webserver or just watching something online.
I don’t think I have actually read a book in probably 8 years :/
Though I consider myself a lefty, and have since I actually started paying attention to politics
Just depends how big it is imo, I left in the Reddit api exodus because I saw some posts talking about Lemmy, I’m already aligned to FOSS support so it was an obvious choice.
Helped too that sync was made for Lemmy so quickly after :P
Nah you won’t give a fuck either way because you’d be dead.
Check out traefik as an alternative to nginx or npm
Traefik+immich+Authelia here, works good. You can use the traefik bypass secret header to let Immich through authelia.
Probably possible in some fashion with authentik too, haven’t tried it yet.
Like literally what Nazi Germany and Stalnist USSR attempted to do leading up to Ww2, creating spheres of influence and preemptively dividing up territory. (Of course the Nazis also knew they were going to turn around and try and take the USSR too)
