Cake day: June 17th, 2023

  • Was a thoroughly enjoyable day. Only one counter protester with a “one man for one woman” sign… who got covered in Pride flags.

Lots of wonderful outfits with people just enjoying being themselves.

Went with my partner and met some of her colleagues, which was so great to meet them.

A heck of a lot of walking of course… and Edinburgh is so hilly… but such a gorgeous city.

Was the first time I was really out in public feeling quite comfy in fem clothing too.

As a bit of an introvert though it took a couple of days to recover from all the socialising… plus it was pretty emotionally exhausting with coming out to friends so recently and being out in the march and evening drinks.

  • The first time my sexual questioning came up my dad felt it was supportive with “I don’t care what you are, so long as your happy… just so long as you aren’t gay <laugh>”

That was followed by a moment’s uncomfortable silence and “more bi or pan really … still trying to work things out”

There was more silence and I dropped him at the train station…

He’s been a lot more supportive more recently though thankfully…

  • My account was 13 years old… back from the great Digg migration.

Over the past decade I’ve been very active on a range of subs, with a more recent focus on professional technology, politics and gaming.

Over the years I’d amassed in excess of 300k comment karma, and not an insignificant bit of post karma (mostly from back in the SCO tech war).

I’m walking away at this point… even if spez was kicked out the door by the Board the bad faith shown is just the straw that broke the dromedary’s back.

Since I am within the scope of GDPR and I want this to be painful on them (plus there are useful bits i refer to from my old history from time to time)… I’ve issued the GDPR data request and intend to follow through with a “right to be forgotten” GDPR data deletion request once that’s been fulfilled.
