  • I debated the very same thing for a little while… I mainly game with 4090. eventually I chose the 14 700 K, considering that is $200 cheaper, Ron is a little cooler, and the number of P-cores is the same. I also play at 3440x1440 and they limit my FPS at 140Hz on my 144Hz.

I am cooling it with a Deepcool LS720, and I have no problem whatsoever. with a little undervolt, runs cool: in C23 max temp is 84. In gaming is in upper 40s or low 50s. Consumption in games is 80-100, and in idle is very low, around 15W.

There is no right or wrong choice. Sometimes I thought that perhaps I should’ve gotten the 14900 K, but again, I mean play it do not do any productivity. and if I would do, the 14 700 K is plenty fast.

    Hope it helps

  • Since you mentioned ASUS, I’ll take advantage of you here, if you don’t mind, and ask you a thing or two.

Finished my build a couple of days ago with 14700k on z690 hero, DDR5 6400 cl32 and AIO 360 (Deepcool LS720). Running C23, with all at stock and I had

    • MCE off: close to 90c, C23 score just above 32000 -MCE on - limits off: I’d thermal throttle in less than 15 seconds! Abort test

So dove into websites and videos, and Reddit (thank you guys) and undervolted by -0.075 and also -0.1 -MCE on - limits off: I run C23 no issues for over 10 mins with a max temp of 81. The average is like 72. Score is 35634

Do you think this is how the system should run in your opinion? I almost would say that there’s south thermal headroom that might be worth increasing p-cores speed, but not sure that it’s actually worth it for gaming.

    Appreciate your insight
